Turning the Tide: Leading a Wellness Center from Potential Loss to Profit

Led the creation of Magneto Wellness, a unique wellness center in Milan. Turned a potential 250K/m loss into a 30K/m profit post-opening.

Budget: Up to $1M
Duration: 5 months
Year: 2017

In my role at Magneto Wellness, I undertook the thrilling task of developing a state-of-the-art wellness center in the bustling city of Milan. This project, which ran from September 2017 to January 2018, was designed to create a unique facility that seamlessly integrated a gym, a medical center, and a sauna, all under one roof. As the Project Manager, I was the driving force behind this initiative, supervising both the construction phase and the business startup.

This dual role required a delicate equilibrium between overseeing the physical construction of the wellness center and orchestrating the operational aspects of the business. This included staff recruitment, devising a marketing strategy, and organizing operations for the initial two months of activity. My role was a harmonious blend of leadership, coordination, and strategic planning.

I led the project team, ensuring all tasks were executed efficiently and in alignment with our project objectives. I also managed the IT company selected for the development of our website, ensuring our digital presence mirrored our innovative approach to wellness. Performance measurement and stakeholder feedback were integral parts of my role. I utilized appropriate tools to track our progress and effectiveness, and I gathered feedback from stakeholders to assess their satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.

One of the unique aspects of this project was the creation and management of specialized teams. I established and led a marketing team, a fitness team, and a healthcare team, each playing a pivotal role in bringing our vision to life. In collaboration with Technogym, a leader in fitness and wellness solutions, we developed research-based methodologies to ensure a unique and differentiating service in Italy.

Despite the project’s complexity and ambitious goals, we successfully completed it within budget and the stated timeline. However, after the opening, the gym was facing a potential loss of 250K per month. I was called upon to turn the situation around. Through strategic planning and effective management, I was able to transform the gym’s financial trajectory, leading it to earn a profit of 30K per month. This experience not only tested my skills but also demonstrated my ability to adapt and succeed in challenging situations.
